We would like to invite you to participate in the 5th Moscow Supercomputing Forum (MSCF 2014) to be held October 21 at Korston Hotel (15 Kosygina St., Moscow).

Scientific research, oil and gas exploration, weather forecasting, large scale economy data analysis, Internet of Things, and any other field where real-time big data analytics is required or where in-situ testing is prohibitively expensive can not evolve without high performance computing (HPC) systems. Today, the ability to perform all those tasks defines the competitive advantage of any advanced nation independently choosing its development path. Moreover, the support of local supercomputing industry becomes a task of providing national security.

MSCF-2014 is focused on discussing the vital tasks of developing innovative supercomputer technology, consolidating the efforts of all Russia's large scientific and industrial centers from Krasnoyarsk to St. Petersburg, building vertical and horizontal ties across professional community capable of world class R&D, and carrying out an unbiased independent peer review of projects centered on building hardware and software foundation for HPC systems.

During the last five years, the annual MSCF events held with the support of Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian Foundation for Basic Research have created a platform for building and vertically integrating professional communities with the participation of scientific institutions, vendors and corporate users employing HPC systems in various economy sectors. The creation of domestic exascale supercomputer with performance orders of magnitude better than that of existing systems is a task of national significance that has to be solved at the federal level with the involvement of all local leading engineering teams to prevent wasting the huge scientific and technology potential available in this area today. Keeping the dependence on the external economic environment virtually eliminates the possibility of technological sovereignty: critical industries must be developed inside of a nation by the professional community of local experts in innovative supercomputing technology.
